The village of Tzitzifes is situated in one of the most beautiful and green areas of Crete, called Apokoronas. Surrounded by wooded hills and picturesque places Cretan village life still goes on is a peaceful ambiance. Tzitzifes is 32 km from Hania and a ten-minute drive to the nearest beach, while a variety of other sandy beaches and fascinating villages are with in easy reach.

The lovingly renovated Villa Zoi is a family home dating back to 1830. It has been decorated with traditional local handicrafts. It is a two-storey house with a courtyard, garden and private swimming pool, which will be for your sole use only. It can accommodate 2-8 people.

On the ground floor there is a sitting room with a dining area and a kitchen. The original arch and door lend character to this open plan area as does the recently installed fireplace. The kitchen is fully-equipped with a fridge, a cooker/micro wave and a sink.

Two double bedrooms lead of the main room. One has a double bed while the other is a twin-bedded room. There is also a bathroom on the ground floor with a shower and toilet.

You can enjoy swimming and the Cretan sunshine at the pool.

On the first floor there are to twin bedded studios. Each is equipped with kitchen facilities, a fridge, a two-ring cooker/micro wave and a sink. Each studio also has a en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet. They both open onto a sizeable balcony with a delightful view.

 

The large veranda offers a fine view over the Cretan landscape.

Villa Zoi is for rent in the village of Tzitzifes itself, while five minutes walk along a lane brings you to the village-spring where shepherds still take their sheep and goats to quench their thirst. In the shade of the surrounding plane trees there is a taverna which also operates as a cafe and sells ice cream, too. A few metres away the 19th century church of the Saviour nestles amongst the greenery. There is a celebration at this church on 6th August; villagers gather at the church in the morning and when the service is over, at about 10.30 everyone is invited to sample traditional boiled meat and rice and wine, of course, at the taverna.

The biggest church of the village dedicated to the Virgin Mary, celebrates on 7th September. When a typical Cretan festival takes place in the evening to the sounds of Cretan music.

The village square with its typical kafenion and a mini-market is only about 100 m away.
